A brief list of some of our favorite essentials. We hope that this gives you ideas of new things to try with your dogs and would love to see comments as to what your favorite things are in return! None of these products are sponsored and ultimately these are just our opinions as individual dog owners!

Treats
  • Full Moon Chicken & Sweet Potato Dog Treats
    • We love these because they are made from human grade ingredients without and rosemary or tocopherols (they're preservative free)
    • Both pups and the cat go CRAZY for these treats
  • Spot Farms Perfect Pairings Duck & Pumpkin Dog Treats
    • We love these because they are made from human grade ingredients without and rosemary or tocopherols (they're preservative free)
    • Sounds familiar because these are from the same manufacturer as Full Moon Treats (Arthur Pet Products)
  • Organic Coconut Oil
    • We buy coconut oil (yep, the kind you would cook with) in bulk for a very economical price which lasts us quite a while
    • The dogs love to get a tablespoon as a treat for going into their crates and it helps keep their coats healthy too

Harness
  • Canine Equipment Ultimate Control Dog Harness
    • This harness has both front and back clips for the leash to attach (and the back attachment can double as a handle if you need to grab your pup up close for more control)
    • Reflective strips of white along the front means more visibility at night
    • Thorin (who lives up to his true husky nature by being quite a puller on leash) has worn his for over a year and it still remains sturdy
    • If you have a great harness you love and would like to recommend, comment below!!

Leash
  • Canine Equipment Technika Beyond Control 1-inch Dog Leash
    • This leash does it all. It can be used as a hand held adjustable length leash, a leash splitter (clip attachment on both ends), and waist attached (belt) leash
    • It is a bit pricey as a leash, but it really can be used in many ways

Dog Bed
  • American Kennel Club Memory Foam Sofa Pet Bed
    • This bed looks nice and we leave ours in the living room
    • High quality bed that is large enough that both tams can use it if they're feeling cuddly
    • This is the ONLY dog bed Thorin hasn't destroyed and he does enjoy laying on it. Granted with other dog beds we made the mistake of keeping them in his crate and he only destroyed them out of boredom, but still, we really do like this bed

Toys
  • DIY Flirt Pole
    • You can purchase smaller flirt pole dog toys online, but these aren't large enough for a tam to really get to enjoy
    • We use a 72" horse lunge whip with a popper (tasseled end) and have tied some strands from an old tug toy on the end
    • This is an easy and fun way to tire out your tam
Toys (Continued..)
  • Rubber Squeak Toys
    • The most durable toys we've used by far (they don't end up eaten or torn into tiny bits around the house) and the pups love the squeaky sound

Brush
  • Kong ZoomGroom, Dog Grooming Toy
    • This brush is AWESOME. It never hurts or pulls the dog's fur and really does a good job of brushing up loose hairs.
    • It's very easy to clean fur out of the brush
    • Really cheap price

Poop Bag Dispenser
  • I HIGHLY recommend getting a poop bag dispenser that clips onto your leash. We use the Earth Rated Poop Bag Dispenser which fits multiple different brands of poop bags (as long as they are packed into a roll to be used in a dispenser). We use them on both dog's leashes.
  • Super cheap and come in handy all the time!

Some of our not so favorite things..
  • Stuffed Toys
    • These never last more than a couple of minutes and usually end up getting eaten
  • Furminator Brushes
    • Some people swear by them, and I'm glad they found something that works. Thorin acted like the brush was hurting him whenever I used it and I found it quite difficult to clean hair out of as the teeth are quite small and close together.
  • Climbing Rope Style Leashes
    • These seem to be the trendy leash to go for but it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to use. Again, Thorin does pull quite a bit on walks which meant this leash was constantly tangling up around itself and binding up around my hand, which wasn't comfortable to use at all and did not make me feel like I had any control.
