As some of you may know, we have a Facebook group (Tamaskans of Michigan) started to facilitate local meetups. While getting to hangout and play with any dogs at a dog park is fun, more of a community grows when we plan tamaskan specific hangouts. Although we have smaller meetups frequently throughout the year, we try to get as many tamaskans together as possible for a large summer gathering. We recently had one June 30th which was our second annual summer meetup. This outing was specifically bittersweet as we said goodbye to Gus as he has since moved to Philadelphia. This year we also welcomed some new tamaskans to the group who we hadn’t previously met and were delighted to know that there are more and more of us around. In all we had 11 tamaskans take over a local dog park and run wild. We were also surprised that nearly each individual tamaskan represented a different breeder, some in the US and some from around the globe. Genghis (Booma True Blue) naturally loved the kiddie pool, Athena (Mystic White Athena) was never too far from his side, Lumi (Adawe Tonganoxie) and Luna (White Elk Ostro) stuck to their sisterly fun, Nya (Hawthorne Acadia) mildly stayed with the people for pets, and Thorin (Vargskuggans Clear Diamond) and Zephyr (Blustag Blue Gem) made sure everyone knew they were loud boys. We even got to see some other doggo friends like Noque (ANCD) and Fahren (ANCD x Tamaskan), and Kya & Echo! In all it was a blast getting to meet other tamaskans and their families and talk about the silly quirks we put up with. If anyone is interested to come to meetup, please reach out to the group and enjoy some of the pictures from this summer’s big meetup. Next year we should try to to get a full group shot (with people too!)
